One of the lovely present I received at Christmas was a ball of Freia Ombre sport yarn and the radiance shawlette pattern from KnitWhits. This proved to be the perfect Christmas project, knitting up very quickly in a simple to remember leafy lace pattern.
The finished scarf is quite small but that’s perfect for me as I like to wrap it around my neck on a cold day but not have the bulk of a full sized shawl.
I finished it on New Year’s Eve and then took a few days to block it and sew in the ends. I love small projects; they are so satisfying!
wow – that’s lovely! great ombre effect!
Thank you. I wasn’t sure whether to put the dark bit in the centre or on the points but I think I made the right decision in the end
Beautiful. Did you dye the shawl after knitting it, or is it an effect of the yarn?
Thank you and no, I didn’t dye the shawl. The yarn is quite unusual in that it changes colour very gradually throughout the ball so you get the dark bit at one end and the light at the other.
soooo pretty! been looking at it all day! love the ombre effect!
Thank you. It was very quick and easy to knit, you should try it!
Quick to knit? that sounds like just the project I need. My last couple of knit projects took so olong that I’d lost interest by the time I finished them. I’ll definately look that pattern up.
I love quick projects, although I love long ones too!
That is gorgeous! I haven’t come across a ball of wool that does that – usually they have a much shorter repeat on the dye…J
Yes it is unusual and they make it in some really pretty colours
